One month before voters head to the polls in Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has kicked off his election campaign with a rally in Ankara. Erdogan is seeking to rein in inflation and boost economic growth. Rampant inflation has eroded support for the president and his AK Party, presenting the biggest challenge to Erdogan’s rule since coming to power in 2002. Turkey is also still recovering from a massive earthquake in February that claimed thousands of lives and costs billions.
