Polls ring alarm bells for AKP

If polls are to be believed, CHP’s victory in the March 31 local elections was not a coincidence. Polls conducted since then unanimously agree that CHP is ahead of AKP.  We also learn from the surveys that the main reason for the negative reaction to the AKP is the economic crisis.  According to a survey, participants find Mehmet Şimşek unsuccessful. However, not everything is rosy for the CHP either. In two surveys (ASAL and Optimar), the rate of those who stated that the party could solve the country’s problems remained at only 20%.

Optimar: CHP Can Get the Highest Vote in Its History

Optimar Research President Hilmi Daşdemir announced the latest survey results in the TV100 broadcast he attended. Stating that CHP has ” wind in its wings” at the moment, Daşdemir said that polls show CHP “First or neck to neck with AKP, at this point.” Daşdemir added that, “If there was a general election today, CHP would receive more votes than ever before, according to the polls.”

Regarding the economic detail in the survey, Daşdemir said:

“But when we ask, ‘What is the most important problem?’, ‘Economy’ comes first with 65 percent. When we ask “Which party can  solve it?”, “AK Party” and “Erdoğan” come first with 22 percent. CHP is in second place with 18 percent. The rate of those who checked the ‘None’ box is 37.5 percent.”

Metropoll CEO Ozer Sencer: AKP – MHP voters too feel victimized by economic crisis

Founder and Manager of MetroPOLL Research, Özer Sencar, shared the latest survey results of his agency on his social media account. Sencar said, “The whole society, including the voters of the People’s Alliance, seems to have agreed that the economy is not managed well,” and pointed out that poor economic conditions are now also conceded among the voters of the government, AKP and MHP.

This survey reveals that the economic policies of the administration do not find enough support among the public, economic problems creating serious dissatisfaction among the constituency. It is a matter of curiosity what impact the economic performance will have on the next elections and political rivalries.

MAK: Wide-spread complaints about the economy and Mehmet Şimşek

The survey conducted by MAK Consulting in July 2024 investigates the political and economic situation of Turkey. According to the survey, if the election were held this Sunday, the AK Party’s vote would decrease to 30 percent, while the CHP’s vote would increase to 31.2 percent. While 43 percent of the participants stated that they were not satisfied with the Presidential election results, 55 percent said that they found the economic management and Mehmet Şimşek unsuccessful. The rate of participants who thought that early general elections should be held was 58 percent, which is the thesis of main opposition party, CHP.

ASAL: The most important problem is the economy, inflation and the cost of living, stray dogs are the least important problem

When asked what the biggest problem of Turkey is, 64.6 percent of the respondents in ASAL survey answered the question: economy, inflation and cost of living. This was followed by those who answered “Refugees” with 6.2 percent.

The answer “Justice” ranked third with 5.5 percent.

“Stray dogs” ranked last with 0.5%

People do not believe that CHP will solve the problems

All is not coming up roses for CHP either. Again, in the ASAL survey, when the question was posed “Which political party can solve Turkey’s problems?” 36.6 percent of those who answered this question chose “None”, manifesting deep disgruntlement with the entire political class.

None: 36.6%

AKP is slightly ahead of CHP, but the difference is much narrower compared to similar polls taken before the fateful May 2023 dual elections:

AKP: 21.5%

CHP: 19.2%

DEM Party: 3.5%

MHP: 3.0%
