Türkiye is committed to playing a crucial role in securing and maintaining regional peace, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday during a joint press conference with Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili in Ankara.
Türkiye’s Position on Syria’s Political Transition
Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s stance on Syria’s political future, stressing that the country expects upcoming transition steps to be inclusive while also preventing separatist movements from gaining ground.
Criticism of Netanyahu’s Approach to Syria
The Turkish foreign minister also took aim at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that his rhetoric on Syria clearly demonstrates a lack of interest in peace.
Fidan further accused Israel of pursuing “regional expansionism under the guise of security” and called for an end to its policies in the region.
