Türkiye Poised for a Decade of Long-Term Investment Growth

Türkiye is on the verge of attracting long-term investment funds for the next decade, though the process will take time, according to Barış Öney, founder and managing partner at Globalturk Capital.
Speaking to Anadolu, Öney noted that major private equity and venture capital funds are closely monitoring Türkiye's economic policies. Many of these funds are expected to attend the 2025 Outlook on Private Capital in Türkiye and Environs conference at the London Stock Exchange.
Return of ‘Patient Capital’ to Türkiye
Öney highlighted that foreign direct investment (FDI) funds, particularly those classified as “patient funds”, typically remain in the country for five to seven years. Despite recent challenges in attracting such funds, investor interest is reviving as Türkiye implements more predictable economic policies.
Some funds that had paused investments in Türkiye have already started returning in late 2024, but exchange rate volatility and inflation remain key concerns.
Rational Policies Crucial for Investment Momentum
"Long-term fund investors are waiting to see consistent medium- and long-term policies and confidence in Türkiye’s economic administration and market stability," Öney explained.
He predicted that a wave of long-term investments could begin in the second half of 2025, but warned that maintaining rational economic policies is essential to sustaining investor confidence.
Global Uncertainty and Türkiye’s Resilience
Öney acknowledged that global economic uncertainty, particularly shifts in U.S. policies, makes forecasting difficult. However, he stressed that Türkiye’s private sector is highly experienced in navigating economic turbulence.
"Our message to investors is clear: Türkiye’s private sector has proven its resilience. Come, invest in our companies, and trust our experienced professionals," he urged.
Key Sectors Drawing Investment
Foreign investment has primarily flowed into Turkish firms operating in:
- Technology and industrial exports
- Green transformation initiatives
- High-demand consumer sectors, including health and manufacturing
With Türkiye positioning itself as a hub for long-term foreign capital, sustained policy stability will be key to unlocking its full investment potential.
