Ankara Governor (Mr) Vasip Şahin announced that 41 people were detained in the protests that started with İmamoğlu's detention. Ankara Bar Association TODAM President Lawyer (Mr) Eren Gönen shared the information that strip searches were conducted on detained female students.
The protests that started all over Turkey after the detention of Istanbul mayor (CHP) Ekrem İmamoğlu continue in city centers and universities.

While the police responded to the protests in Ankara Güvenpark and ODTÜ with harsh interventions, a statement about the detentions came from the Ankara Governor's Office. Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin made the following statement: "41 people were detained in the illegal demonstrations that took place in our city and handed over to the judicial authorities."
In the dawn operation conducted by the Ankara Police Department Security Branch at 6:30 this morning; which was carried out by the Counter-Terrorism teams due to a shortage of personnel; 22 students and 1 lawyer were detained for "violating the law on assembly and demonstration marches."
STRIP SEARCH OF DETAINED FEMALE STUDENTS
Ankara Bar Association assumed the defense of the detained students. According to the news in daily Cumhuriyet; Ankara Bar Association Social Cause and Legal Research Center (TODAM) President Lawyer Eren Gönen stated that 7 of the 22 detained students were strip searched.
Ankara Bar Association Human Rights Center met with the female students who were strip searched. The center will release a report after the interviews are completed. In addition, the prosecutor conducting the investigation instructed that the social media accounts of the detainees be examined and that statements be taken in the event that “other crimes such as insulting the President” are detected within the scope of the investigation.
