Nationwide Protests Continue After İmamoğlu’s Arrest — Students to March from Maçka to Şişli Municipality

Protests across Turkey continue to intensify following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, along with Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık.
University Students Lead New Wave of Mobilization
In response to the latest arrest warrants issued for 48 individuals, university students are mobilizing once again. Today at 17:00, students—led by the Istanbul Universities Coordination—will gather at Maçka Park and march to Şişli Municipality, where a state-appointed trustee has replaced the elected mayor.

Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) students have already begun marching from Davutpaşa Campus, chanting slogans en route to the gathering point.
The protest is seen as a symbolic act of rejecting what many view as a political coup against local democracy and an erosion of electoral legitimacy.
