Turkey’s Consumer Confidence Hits Highest Level in Nearly Two Years

Consumer-Confidence

Turkey’s consumer confidence index surged to 85.9 in March, marking its highest level since May 2023, according to official data from TurkStat and the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT). The 4.6% increase from February’s 82.1 signals continued improvement in consumer sentiment.

Economic Outlook Strengthens

Despite the uptick, the index remains below 100, indicating a pessimistic overall outlook. However, all four sub-indices showed gains:

  • Household financial situation: 70.9 (up from 65.6)

  • Financial expectations: 84.7 (up by 1.6 points)

  • General economic outlook: 84.6 (up from 79.3)

  • Willingness to buy durable goods: 103.2 (up from 100.3)

As a key economic indicator, consumer confidence reflects public sentiment on financial stability, economic growth, and spending trends. The latest rise suggests increasing optimism despite ongoing economic challenges.
