Türkiye and UK Discuss Strategic Defense Cooperation and Eurofighter Typhoon Procurement

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz met with British Defense Secretary John Healey and his delegation at the Turkish Embassy in London on Thursday. The discussions were attended by Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir and AK Party Deputy Chairman Zafer Sirakaya.

Strengthening Bilateral Defense Ties

The meeting covered a broad range of critical topics, including regional and global security issues, strategic defense cooperation, and the progress of joint defense industry projects between Turkey and the UK. One key focus was the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement negotiations, where Yılmaz expressed satisfaction with the positive developments.

“We are pleased with the positive progress in negotiations regarding the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement,” Yılmaz stated. He also highlighted the shared vision of both nations to enhance defense cooperation in third countries, aiming for more collaborative efforts in the future.

Looking Ahead: Türkiye-UK Defense Industry Council Meeting

Yılmaz expressed optimism for the upcoming Türkiye-UK Defense Industry Council meeting, set for April 9, which he believes will be an important milestone in further strengthening bilateral defense relations.

In closing, he thanked Healey and his delegation for their ongoing support and valuable contributions to the growing cooperation between the two nations in the defense sector.
