On November 10 incumbent president Erdogan declared his candidacy for a third term, stating that “If Allah gives him life and his nation wants him, he shall serve..” Since Allah usually doesn’t comment on mortal’s lifesapns, and Erdogan is the embodiment of his nation’s will, he is certain to serve for life. There is small glitch though, according to the constitution, he is a lame duck.
There are two escape clauses which will grant him eligibility for a tihrd, but both are very difficult to arrange given the parliamentary arithmetic. What shall he do? Can Turkey live with more Erdogan?
