Dr. Fatih Karahan, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), met with Alpaslan Çakar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Banks Association of Turkey (BAT), and bank CEOs who are members of the BAT Board of Directors. In a statement released by the BAT after the meeting, it was stated that the meeting was very productive and that the latest situation in the banking sector and future expectations were evaluated in line with current macroeconomic developments.
The main agenda items of the meeting were the monetary policy outlook in the context of the disinflation process with the arrangements to increase the share of Turkish lira deposits, simplification and quantitative tightening steps in the macroprudential framework, and CBRT Governor Karahan and TBB President Çakar expressed their satisfaction with the coordinated efforts of the Central Bank and the banking sector.
