Ekrem İmamoğlu ahead of all candidates in the Istanbul local election poll

Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced at a press conference yesterday that he will be a candidate for Istanbul again in the local elections to be held next year.

While the decision of İmamoğlu, who announced that he would be a candidate again for Istanbul in the local elections, made a big impact, it was learned that his team at the municipality had a survey conducted to investigate how many votes İmamoğlu would get if he competed with potential candidates. While İmamoğlu won the election against all candidates in the survey, which included many names such as former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and former Climate Affairs Minister Murat Kurum, Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar (also the son in law of President Erdogan) was the person who challenged him the most with 46 percent of the votes.

In the study carried out by Aksoy Research, Istanbul residents were asked the names of İmamoğlu and former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, former Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, Mayor of Esenler Tevfik Göksu, Mayor of Üsküdar Hilmi Türkmen, Ümraniye Mayor İsmet Yıldırım and President Erdoğan’s son-in-law Selçuk Bayraktar’s prospects.

According to an article of journalist İsmail Saymaz, in the survey, which resulted in İmamoğlu winning the election against all candidates, the person who challenged him the most was Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar with 46 percent of the votes. Imamoglu is down to 54.1% against Bayraktar.

It is followed by Kurum with 42.3 percent, Turkmen with 39.6 percent, Göksu with 39.5 percent, Soylu with 38.7 percent and Yıldırım with 37.2 percent.
