Erdoğan Meets Indonesian President Subianto, Stresses Urgency of Palestinian State

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was formally received by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Wednesday as part of his multi-nation tour across Asia.

Upon arrival, Erdoğan’s motorcade was accompanied by cavalry units to the palace entrance, where Subianto greeted him. The Turkish leader then signed the official guest book before engaging in a private meeting with his Indonesian counterpart.

Following their discussions, the two presidents oversaw the signing of bilateral agreements and addressed the media in a joint press conference.

Palestinian Statehood “Cannot Be Delayed”

During his speech, Erdoğan emphasized the pressing need for an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The establishment of a sovereign and territorially intact Palestinian state cannot be postponed any longer,” he declared, underscoring that regional stability remains unattainable without peace in Gaza.

He further asserted that Israel must bear financial responsibility for the destruction caused by its ongoing military actions, estimating the damage in Gaza at nearly $100 billion.

Expressing gratitude for Indonesia’s stance on Palestine, Erdoğan stated, “We appreciate Indonesia’s position and will continue working together on the reconstruction of Gaza.”

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Beyond diplomatic talks, Erdoğan is set to attend an official state dinner and participate in the Türkiye-Indonesia business forum.

His visit to Jakarta marks the second stop on his Asia tour, following a two-day stay in Malaysia. The Turkish delegation accompanying him includes First Lady Emine Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

Upon arrival at their hotel, Erdoğan and the First Lady were warmly received by Indonesian children waving Turkish and Indonesian flags.

The four-day diplomatic mission will conclude with Erdoğan’s final stop in Pakistan.
