Istanbul’s inflation with 3,9 percent increase in September defies central banks path

According to Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) data, retail prices increased by 3.9 percent in September, while the annual increase was 59.18 percent.

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) announced the Istanbul Wage Earners Livelihood Index and Wholesale Price Index data for September. According to the data, Istanbul Wage Earners’ Living Index, which measures retail price movements in Istanbul, increased by 59.18 percent in September compared to the same period of the previous year. The index had recorded an annual increase of 61.57 percent in August. Wholesale Price Index rose by 4.67 percent month-on-month and 47.89 percent year-on-year in September.

The increases in retail prices in September 2024 compared to the previous month are as follows: 13.24 percent in culture, education and entertainment expenditures, 6.67 percent in clothing expenditures, 4.18 percent in housing expenditures, 3.62 percent in household goods, 2.63 percent in food expenditures, 4.18 percent in housing expenditures, 3.62 percent in household goods, 2.63 percent in food expenditures, 0.72 percent in health and personal care expenditures.
