Türkiye is poised to strengthen its unity and stability by addressing its longstanding terrorism challenges, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has affirmed. He emphasized that terrorism must also find no refuge in neighboring Syria.
“The gates of peace, welfare, comfort, and stability for the Turkish people have been opened wide. Our new century will be reinforced through resolving terrorism and ending violence,” Bahçeli declared during a speech to his parliamentary group on January 7.
He referenced the ongoing political dialogue involving the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and other parties aimed at eradicating PKK terrorism. A key aspect of this process includes the DEM Party’s meeting with imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is anticipated to call on the group to abandon armed conflict.
Bahçeli expressed confidence that Türkiye’s deep-rooted issues would be resolved through this initiative. “Chronic problems will be resolved” he said, while cautioning against any attempts to derail the progress. “We have no other option than being Türkiye all together.”
On Syria, Bahçeli criticized what he described as an international agenda by imperialist powers, accusing them of supporting the YPG under the guise of combating ISIL.
