Retail prices in Istanbul increased by 3.46% in June compared to the previous month, while wholesale prices rose by 4.32%, data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) showed on Saturday. The annual change rate was 55.19% for retail prices and 64.27% for wholesale prices.
Istanbul Cost of Living Index prepared by the ITO, an indicator of retail price movements, recorded 6.99% increase in culture, education, and entertainment expenses, a 5.11% increase in transportation and communication expenses, a 3.75% increase in housing expenses, a 3.39% increase in household goods expenses, a 3.37% increase in food expenses, a 3.20% increase in clothing expenses, a 0.08% increase in health and personal care expenses, and a 0.85% decrease in other expenses.
For wholesale prices in June, compared to the previous month, there was an 8.36% increase in fuel and energy materials, a 5.71% increase in construction materials, a 4.21% increase in unprocessed materials, a 3.93% increase in food materials, a 3.30% increase in textiles, and a 2.21% increase in minerals. However, there was a 1.36% decrease in chemical materials.
