Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country looks forward to cooperating with Egypt on natural gas and nuclear power, following a visit to Ankara by Egyptian president Sissi during which trade cooperation deals were also signed.
The two countries are willing to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, defense, health, energy, and the environment, Erdogan said at a joint press conference with Sissi.
Turkey has been actively expanding its energy and natural gas partnerships, including significant engagements with African nations.
Turkey has signed natural gas exploration and cooperation deals with Libya and Somalia, allowing for joint exploration and exploitation.
The deal with Libya builds on a previous maritime boundary agreement signed in 2019, which delineated the countries’ shared maritime borders. A deal that was criticized by Greece and Egypt.
