Initially focusing on passion fruit, Turkish farmers have successfully broadened their crop selection to include avocados, mangoes, dragon fruit, guava, and papaya, especially in Mediterranean regions such as Antalya, Mersin, and Alanya.
In Alanya, avocado production has seen remarkable growth, expanding from 250 acres to an impressive 16,500 acres over the past 12 years. This surge is largely due to increasing demand, with the region harvesting between 70 and 80 million avocados last year and setting an ambitious target of 100 million for this year.
