Turkey’s industrial production drops by 0.7 percent annually

Türkiye’s industrial production contracted by 0.7% year-on-year in April 2024, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).

 

The mining and quarrying index saw a significant increase of 12.2%, while the manufacturing index declined by 1.5%. The index for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply increased by 1.6% compared to the same month in the previous year.

On a monthly basis, industrial production decreased by 4.9% in April 2024. The subsectors displayed varied results, with the mining and quarrying index decreasing by 1.3%, the manufacturing index dropping by 5.3%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index declining by 2.7% from the previous month.

These figures reflect ongoing challenges within the industrial sector, with notable monthly declines across key subsectors, despite some year-over-year growth in mining and utility services. (ILKHA)
